Here's the story behind my latest single "Sometimes (The Turtle Song)"...

Back in 2014, I wrote a song called "The Turtle Song" and released it on my "Treacherous Waters" album (see OTHER ALBUMS). It's always been well-received whenever I play out; somebody even came up to me after a show once to tell me how much they liked it and how it reminded them of Peter, Paul & Mary's stuff. So...

I reached out to Noel Paul Stookey (Paul from PP&M) via his website asking him if I could send him the song for a listen; I told him it might make a good cover for him but, short of that, I'd certainly appreciate his feedback. I honestly didn't expect to hear back from him until, lo and behold, he sent me an email about three weeks later saying he'd love to hear it!

Noel's feedback...

He really liked the lyrics but felt the music needed work. Specifically, he felt the song needed a chorus to give it some "lift." But get this...he actually took the time to re-arrange my lyrics on a Word attachment showing me how he thought the song should be structured "from a producer's standpoint." It would be up to me, of course, to write the melody for the new chorus.

And he thought the song should be called "Sometimes."

Pretty cool, right?
